Socially Responsible Investing

Invest in line with what you value.

SoResInv explains socially responsible investing in plain language: SRI and ESG approaches, key terms and questions to ask before you align money with values.

What is socially responsible investing?

Socially responsible investing (SRI) is an approach where investors consider social, environmental and ethical factors — not just financial ones — when choosing where their money goes.

🌱

Environmental

Issues like climate, energy use, pollution, water and biodiversity.

🤝

Social

How companies treat employees, customers, suppliers and communities.

🏛️

Governance

Board structure, transparency, executive pay and shareholder rights.

Many paths, one idea

There is no single way to invest responsibly. Some people avoid certain industries; others seek out companies leading on sustainability, back specific themes, or use their shareholder voice to push for change.

Good questions to ask

Labels can mean different things to different providers. These questions help cut through the jargon.

  1. 1Which values or issues matter most to me, and which trade-offs am I comfortable with?
  2. 2How does a fund define terms like “sustainable”, “ESG” or “impact”, and what does it actually hold?
  3. 3What screening or selection method does it use, and how is that disclosed?
  4. 4What are the fees, risks and diversification compared with alternatives?
  5. 5Does it report on its engagement activity or the outcomes it claims?
  6. 6How does it fit my overall time horizon, goals and risk tolerance?
